The Gustav Adolf Stabkirche in Hahnenklee is a special wooden church in the Harz Mountains, built between 1907 and 1908. The church is a free replica of Norwegian medieval stave churches and is notable for its characteristic wooden construction and ornate, Viking-like details. The Marktkirche zum Heiligen Geist in Clausthal-Zellerfeld is the impressive main church of the city and is known as the largest wooden church in Germany. The church was built between 1639 and 1642, shortly after a major city fire, entirely in wood and in Baroque style. The striking, blue-painted exterior and the large wooden construction make the church special. Inside, the spacious, bright hall with its richly decorated pulpit, altar and an impressive organ arrangement is particularly striking.
